Dundee Contemporary Arts

Crafting a digital gateway that invites, inspires and connects audiences with this venue’s expansive cultural offering.

When Dundee Contemporary Arts approached us, we understood we were stepping into more than just a website redesign - we were crafting a digital gateway to a vibrant cultural ecosystem. As a cornerstone of the international arts scene, DCA needed a digital presence that could capture the energy, diversity, and creativity of their expansive cultural offerings.

Our challenge was multifaceted: how do you translate an arts centre's dynamic, living experience into a digital platform? We knew the website needed to do far more than display information. It had to invite, inspire, and seamlessly connect audiences with the rich array of events, workshops, films, and experiences that make DCA so special.

Drawing on our extensive experience with arts and culture venues, we approached the project with a deep understanding of the unique digital challenges these institutions face. Our team brought a wealth of knowledge from previous successful projects, ensuring we could create a transformative digital experience that would resonate with both longtime art enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The heart of our solution was a sophisticated integration with Spektrix, a leading ticketing system that would revolutionise how audiences interact with DCA. We weren't just creating a booking platform; we were designing a user journey that would make discovering and booking events intuitive, enjoyable, and effortless. The system we developed enables cross-selling, simplifies ticket purchases, and provides a smooth, engaging user experience.

But our vision extended beyond ticket sales. We wanted the website to communicate the breadth and depth of DCA's programming - to give visitors a taste of the creativity and community that pulse through the centre. We carefully designed the interface to showcase everything from film screenings to workshops, from visual arts to community events, ensuring that every visitor could find something that sparked their imagination.

We also built in strategic elements to support DCA's broader mission. Donation pathways were carefully crafted to encourage philanthropic support, email sign-up forms were integrated seamlessly, and social media connections were made intuitive and inviting.

The true test came when we conducted user testing, bringing real customers into the experience we had created. The result was a resounding success - a website that not only looked beautiful but functioned brilliantly, making it easier than ever for people to engage with DCA's incredible offerings.

What we delivered was more than just a website. It was a digital extension of DCA's creative spirit , inviting exploration, supporting community engagement, and celebrating the transformative power of art.
