About the client

Hardball Games is a Brighton-based games studio. They bring audiences together through world-beating games, and Outrage is no different.

The Brief

Hardball required a website that could bring the game to life and drive wishlists. Outrage is a hyper-competitive brawler with a strong visual identity. The client had confidence in our expertise and we were lucky to have the creative freedom to deliver our best.

Challenges

We worked to tight deadlines to get the website ready for the game’s launch. Ensuring we did it right the first time. This required excellent collaboration within our team and with the client and we appreciated the significant input we got from the team at Hardball.

Key Goals

  • Driving wishlists
  • Encouraging sign-ups to their Discord
  • Getting users interested in Outrage pre-launch

An extension of the game

Excitingly, we got to play the beta version of Outrage early! This allowed us to have a deeper knowledge of the game and experience it from the perspective of the player. Overall, this helped us to bring the game’s vibrancy into the website and create an experience we know the user would enjoy.

After a recent rebranding of the game’s visual style making it more disco and less macho, we have adapted the look and feel of the website to match. Harnessing the game’s motion, we have used animations to bring the game to life and convey the punch; transporting the audience into the world of Outrage.

Results

A key goal for Hardball was to drive wishlists on Steam, so seeing that ⅓ of users had wishlisted the game was clear evidence of our ability. Magical levels of creativity, collaboration from the client, the Grandad team’s expertise and some punchy animations brought the website together to make Outrage a success.
