About the client

Dundee Contemporary Arts is a vibrant cultural hub for the arts and a registered charity. They have a packed programme of events, workshops, classes and activities.

The Brief

With a vast offering and a cornerstone of the international Arts & Culture sector, DCA required a website capable of communicating these offerings. It was also important that the website encouraged customers to visit the centre and engage with the DCA brand. 


Despite having worked with other arts centres previously, DCA brought unique challenges. Their open spaces, exhibitions and extensive resources set them apart from other arts organisations we have worked with. These unique challenges influenced the information architecture we developed.

Expertise and partnership

Having successfully created similar websites for other arts organisations we had a wealth of knowledge ready to apply to DCA’s website. This ensured we could create a high-quality transformation of their digital presence that was effective at engaging new and existing audiences. 

Our experience with ticketing and venues means that we have the best partners to work with. For DCA we integrated Spektrix’s ticketing system for DCA’s films, events and workshops. Being the leading Spetrix partner along with our bespoke platform brings together a wealth of options that enable us to deliver leading UI experiences. All whilst supporting administrators with a wealth of time-saving automation.

The Results

We used our wealth of experience with ticketing and venues to create a first-class booking journey, keeping the process simple and increasing revenue. The seamless usability was also confirmed when we tested it on real customers at the DCA! At Grandad we have extensive experience creating a digital presence for Arts and Culture venues, despite its unique challenges, the DCA website is a testament to our ability.
