Devon Capital is a financial services agency established in 2000, based in London. Staffed with senior professionals drawn from the financial industry - traders, senior bankers, lawyers and data experts from top tier global firms - they are driven by data and offer extensive analysis and advisory services.
They have also provided support for 4 major government investigations, or monitorships into wire-stripping, mirror trades, FX manipulation and consumer protection.
They approached Grandad after recognising the need for a new website which would communicate the breadth and depth of their specialist experience and expertise. It also needed to position Devon Capital as a thought leader in their industry by showcasing their team, capabilities and successes, to support potential client’s choice to use their services. Grandad’s overall goal was to clearly position Devon Capital as THE specialist global financial advisors by providing detailed and narratively linked communications on their capabilities, experience, successes, team and approach.
A defined approach
We began by reworking the information architecture of the site, to allow users to better explore and discover the full breadth of their services and expertise. Each area of specialty was clearly defined in the navigation area, allowing users to find the answers they need quickly and easily. Meanwhile, we worked in partnership with the team at Devon Capital to expand on their written content for each of these areas, to ensure users could obtain a comprehensive understanding and explore relevant content which may aid them in fulfilling their goals.
We encountered a challenge in that we needed to find a way of translating the complex financial content into meaningful page narratives which could be fully understood online independently. We worked to overcome this by restructuring the content provided to us from their presentation pack to create effective and valuable narrative journeys for the site, allowing users to understand Devon’s offerings on their own.
Targeted targeting
The team at Devon Capital were explicit in the discovery phase that they acquire their work mostly through networking and recommendations. As such, the primary purpose of their website was to provide further information to prospective clients which would validate their capabilities. We did a thorough analysis of Devon’s existing and desired clients to identify categories and design the site’s visual, written and navigational content tailored to them.
Grandad worked with the Devon Capital team to suggest and implement content which followed best practices for usability, readability and UX, without any marketing jargon. The end result was a seamless user experience combining a clean, sophisticated design with a strategically-led digital expansion on Devon’s skills, capabilities and team.
